5 Reasons Why Turkey Should Be Your Primary Hair Transplant Destination

5 Reasons Why Turkey Should Be Your Primary Hair Transplant Destination

If you are thinking about doing a hair transplant surgery, you should look no further than Turkey. The whole of hair transplant industry is worth over $1 billion worldwide, and, to no surprise, Turkey is aiming at taking the largest chunk of the pie.  ?Why is this so?? you might ask. The answer lies in a couple of causes. Doctors and clinics in Turkey have worked long and hard to achieve the status that they enjoy today, and it can be said that the hard work has started paying dividends. The underlying causes for this expansion in hair transplant medicine can be summed up in five things: cost, method used, trust, ease of travel and overall experience. Here, we will discuss each of those in detail.

Cost

This is probably the primary reason why so many people opt to have hair transplant in Turkey. Hair transplant is not a cheap solution anywhere in the world. It is an elective procedure ? meaning that the person opting for it is doing so of their own will, i.e. it is not necessary to do it. This is why, just like all other elective procedures, its cost is a bit higher than other non-elective procedures.

In the UK, to get a transplant of full head of hair, you would have to pay somewhere between £5,000 and £15,000. In dollars, that amounts to even bigger figures. On the other hand, in Turkey, you can have that same procedure done for as little as $2,250, which is around £2,000. That is over 50% in saving. Of course, depending on the clinic, the number of grafts required (although not all clinics charge for this), the extent of hair loss, and the type of donor care, this number may increase, but in the worst case scenario, you are looking at around $6,000. That is still less than half the price that you would pay in the UK!

Method

For the longest time, hair transplant procedures have been done using the so called FUT technique (Follicular Unit Transplantation). This technique is still used around the world and, while it has yielded better results than some earlier techniques used, it still left visible scarring and possibilities for complications.

Doctors in Turkey have, however, perfected another technique for hair transplant, called FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction). This breakthrough technique revolves around extracting singular follicular units (as opposed to complete scalps of hair) and inserting them onto the bald spots on the patient?s head. It is performed under a local anesthetic and disperses the scars evenly, if they are visible at all. Since the tools used are less than 1mm in diameter, this technique is also the least invasive of all.

Aside from this, the FUE technique provides the best results yet when it comes to hair transplant. Because the follicles are extracted evenly from all sides of the donor area (which is the back and sides of the head where balding usually does not take place), the result is a hair that is evenly matched and gives less impression that there was ever balding present to begin with.

Trust

Turkish doctors are renowned world-wide when it comes to hair transplant procedures. Firstly, they have trained and specialized across the world, mostly in the West. There they have gained access to the best training programs and practices available at the time. Then, determined to continue excelling, they have started implementing the FUE technique in their own country and working towards the goal of being the best in the world. Furthermore, their results speak for themselves.

However, if this is not enough, there are also two international bodies which accredit and regulate the surgeons across the world. One is The International Alliance of Hair Restoration Surgeons (IAHRS) and the other is The International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery (ISHRS). The former is an association of hair transplant surgeons which provides education and training, as well as organizes research meetings and conferences on the subject. The latter is an organization of customers which only chooses to accredit the surgeons who meet their high standards of ethics and professionalism. It is not easy to become accredited by them, and if you choose a doctor from their list, you can be sure that you?ve made the best choice.

Ease of Travel

Arranging travel to Turkey is exceptionally easy. The country already lives off tourism, so it is not strange for them to have people coming over. Many countries have a ?visa-free? arrangement with Turkey, which means there are no waiting in lines at the embassies. Turkey?s capital, Ankara, is well connected via its airport and no less can be said of Turkey?s largest and most famous city, Istanbul. Also, there are many low-cost airlines operating out of both of these cities, so finding a cheap airline ticket should be no problem.

Overall Experience

Aside from all of this, it should be noted that hair transplant patients in Turkey are treated exceptionally well. If getting possibly the best hair transplant surgery in the world is not enough, you will find that the treatment package itself includes other amenities. Usually, you will get a VIP transport from the airport, dedicated translators for your language, mid-surgery massages and much more. The packages depend on the clinic, but they usually involve the abovementioned things.

Even if that is not enough, you should think about choosing Turkey simply because of its sights and history. Istanbul, for example, has been the capital of Christianity for a thousand years, before it fell to the Ottomans in the 15th century, who put even more work into it. It is one of the largest cities in Europe and has a lot of wonderful sights to see for the average tourist. In fact, it is so great, that you can often see people with gauze on their heads, recovering from their hair transplant surgeries, taking in the sights, because they wouldn?t want to miss them while they are there.
