About Professor Gunhan ERBAKAN

Professor Gunhan ERBAKAN completed his higher education in the Faculty of Medicine at Ege University between 1963 and 1969. In the same year, he started his specialization studentship in the Division of Ophthalmology in the Faculty of Medicine at Ege University and became an Ophthalmologist in 1971.

He performed his military service as an Ophthalmologist at Hatay Military Hospital in İzmir between 1974 and 1975 and then received education on Retinal Diseases and Lasers in the Ophthalmology Clinic in the Faculty of Medicine at Ghent University, Belgium for a year.

In 1977, he became an Associate Professor in Ophthalmology and founded and operated the Retina and Contact lens units in the Division of Ophthalmology in the Faculty of Medicine at Ege University. He became a Professor in Ophthalmology in 1982. He held office as the Head of the Division of Ophthalmology in the Faculty of Medicine at Ege University between 1992 and 2000. Meanwhile, he published 3 books and more than 150 domestic and foreign scientific manuscripts and presented about 170 papers in both domestic and foreign congresses.
