MEDICAL TOURISM experts said the Philippines must upgrade its medical technology and have well-designed price schemes to compete in the region.

"To gain competitive advantage, the Philippines must upgrade facilities," said Samuel Bernal, president of Globe Tek Pro USA, during the "Embracing Health and Wellness in the Heart of Asia" summit yesterday.

The Philippines does not attract much medical tourists because it is a latecomer behind India and Thailand, which have been marketing aggressively.
