Step 1: Complete Checkup
The first step is to conduct a full check‐up of your physical condition. This includes full physical, lab tests, and any other test needed to completely understand your state of health before surgery. This is also a critical step because obesity can often cause unseen damage to other vital parts of your body, including your circulatory, immune and endocrine systems.
Step 2: Surgery
AMG specialists, trained in the latest technological processes, conduct all surgeries. Present at every surgery is an AMG medical director who performed your initial check‐up. This is done to ensure that the surgeon has all vital information available about your health, and thus prevent some of the most common surgical mistakes that stem from lack of communication between the medical and surgical teams.

Surgeries Available
The three most common gastric surgeries are gastric band, gastric sleeve, and full bypass. The difference is mainly in the way in which your stomach cavity is restricted, and how permanent the procedure is. Each has its benefits and drawbacks, and AMG is here to help you understand which one is right for you.
Gastric Band
The most basic gastric procedure is a gastric band, an adjustable ring that reduces the size of the opening to your stomach to control your food intake. The surgery is done laparoscopically to reduce surface scarring and improve recovery time, and takes about 30 - 60 minutes.
Gastric band is adjustable and fully reversible. Travel back home can take place only 1-2 days after surgery, and you should be back to normal activity only a week after surgery.

Gastric Sleeve
Sleeve Gastrectomy is a newer procedure that is safe and effective for high BMI and high-risk patients. It reduces the size of your stomach by stapling it together and wrapping it in a sleeve. This procedure can still be done laparoscopically, and can reduce the size of your stomach by up to 75-85%. Most patients loose about 50-60% of their excess weight after sleeve gastrectomy.

Gastric Bypass
Gastric Bypass is the most common form of laparoscopic bypass surgery. Bypass surgery eliminates a large part of your stomach and some of your small intestine, thereby limiting your food intake. Since obese patients generally have larger stomachs that have been stretched over time, this surgery can get their stomachs back to normal size. Average weight loss is around 60‐70% of excess body weight, and is wellmaintained 10-15 years later.
