Laparoscopic Adjustable Gastric Banding (LAGB)
Laparoscopic adjustable gastric banding (LAGB) is a safe and reliable (FDA approved in 2001) worldwide surgical procedure for people who have Body Mass Index above 40, or those who are 100 pounds or more over their estimated ideal weight LAGB ultimately restricts the size of the stomach and the amount of food it can hold. The placement of the Gastric Band creates a small pouch at the top of the stomach and the pouch holds about 1/2 cup of food while the typical stomach holds 6 cups of food. The pouch fills with food quickly, and the Gastric Band slows the passage of food from the pouch to the lower part of the stomach. As the upper part of stomach is recognized as full, the message to the brain is that the entire stomach is full, and this sensation helps you to be hungry less often, feel full more quickly and for a longer period of time, eat less, and lose weight over time.
Gastric Balloon
Gastric Balloon is a non-surgical procedure available for weight loss. The intragastric balloon is designed to provide short–term weight loss therapy. A soft, expandable, silicone balloon is placed inside the stomach via endoscopy that enters through the mouth. Once inserted into the stomach, the empty balloon is filled with sterile saline, occupying a large part of the stomach, creating a feeling of fullness. The placement of the intragastric balloon takes approximately 20 minutes and is performed by a team of qualified gastroenterologists. Because the balloon can be inserted and removed under local anesthesia in a day clinic and does not involve surgery, it is considered to be a minimally invasive procedure. The patient will be able to leave the hospital after two hours.
Gastric Sleeve Surgery
The Gastric sleeve surgery is performed on extremely obese patients, with a BMI of 40 or more, where the risk of performing a gastric bypass or duodenal switch procedure may be too large. A two-stage procedure is performed: the first is a gastric sleeve, and the second is a conversion into a gastric bypass or duodenal switch. Patients usually lose a large quantity of their excess weight after the first gastric sleeve procedure alone, but if weight loss ceases, the second step is necessary.
For patients who are obese but not extremely obese, gastric sleeve alone is a suitable operation with minimum risks. The gastric sleeve surgery currently is acceptable weight loss surgery option for obese patients as a single procedure.
Tummy Tuck Surgery
The tummy tuck surgery is also known as an abdominoplasty. This is a cosmetic surgery in which the abdomen is reworked to give it a firm shape, especially after a massive weight loss or childbirth. When these things happen, there is a possibility of the belly skin sagging. The mass beneath the skin reduces after these processes, but the skin is unable to come back to its original position. Bringing it back to its original firm shape is what tummy tuck accomplishes.
Breast Augmentation
Breast augmentation is a cosmetic surgery that enlarges the breast and allows for a more proportioned appearance. The procedure includes the use of breast implants inserted into the breast to give a larger and fuller silhouette. Most patients are extremely happy with breast augmentation. There is a certain amount of increased self-esteem and self-confidence which may result.
Breast Reduction
Breast reduction means a surgical reduction of breast size in order to reduce the weight of the breasts and relieve symptoms from unusually large, pendulous breasts. The weight of very large breasts can cause back strain and discomfort and you may consider a breast reduction. Very large breasts may interfere with the ability to exercise.
Body Lift Surgery
When the weight is lost, the skin remains behind. Since the human skin is not quite elastic, it does not come back to its original taut shape, it keeps sagging from various parts of the body. In general, a body lift aims to improve the shape and tone of the underlying tissue that supports fat and skin. It is typically performed after massive weight loss, including that which occurs after bariatric surgery. The body lift procedure may also be performed to offset the physical effects of aging and childbearing. With an eye for aesthetic contouring of the abdomen, arms, thighs, buttocks and back, the surgeon removes excess skin to tighten and flatten these areas. The end result is a body that is not only dramatically thinner; it is smoother and has a pleasing, natural-looking shape. A body lift is performed either under general or local anesthesia and we ask patients to plan on an overnight hospital stay.
Liposuction
Liposuction is one of the most common cosmetic surgeries. When a person struggles to get rid of fat deposits in certain areas of their body, no matter how hard they try, it can be quite frustrating. Liposuction is one way to finally eliminate that fat and attain the body that you want. The area the most commonly treated includes the hips, abdomen, thighs and buttocks and face. For women, the love handles are most often targeted. Liposuction does not remove cellulite, only fat.

Bariatric Anesthesiologist
Normally, bariatric surgeries are performed under general anesthesia and the anesthesiologist is responsible for delivering the general anesthesia safely to patients.
Bariatric Dietitian
The dietician takes an important part of the LAGB team and will see the patients before and after the surgery. Pre-operatively, the dietician explains what to expect and how they will feel.
Post-operatively, the dietician will help the patient in the early liquid phase through to the semi-solid phase of eating and teach them the golden rules of a proper nutrition. Dietary counseling following the bariatric surgery is a highly specialized field.
Bariatric Psychologist
The bariatric psychologist is specifically trained to assess and treat individuals who are coping with obesity and had weight loss surgery. The psychologist will assess the patient before surgery and help them cope with the idea of the surgery. Bariatric Physician
Exercise after bariatric surgery is critical for effective weight loss. Exercise is a safe and effective way of maintaining lean body mass, which maintains metabolism and will facilitate healthy weight loss. Making the decision to have my tummy tuck and liposuction procedures was a hard decision. I knew it was something I wanted to do because I lost 40 pounds naturally and needed to have the fatty skin removed. The reason I chose to have my surgery in the Seoul SKY Hospital with Dr. Kang was because of the doctor and the nurse who I spoke with. Nurse Kim, Eun Young made me feel the most comfortable.
Dr. Kang and nurse Kim was very compassionate, patient and, informative. They answered every my questions openly and honesty. Because I was extremely nervous nurse Kim went out her way to schedule a time for me to talk with a current patience that just went through the same procedure. Which I had the pleasure of having a face to face discussion. She provided me with the some before picture and I saw the after in person.
The other Doctors from other hospitals that I had discussion with made me feel very uncomfortable and that`s putting it lightly. Both operations went smoothly. I had no complications and I was in zero pain. I literally was walking, talking and eating minute after the surgery. Thinking back on all of the surgery and hospital experience I have had during my life Seoul SKY Hospital, nursing staff was far more superior and personal than I have ever had. The nursing staff assigned to me on the 5th floor was very hospitable, compassion and profession. When I made the decision to have the surgery, a flood of emotions have crossed “Do I really have to do this? I wonder whether I am really able to go through with it. How can a lot of people lose weight with doing sports while I cannot? ...” Having had the band for 3 months so far, it makes me feel that morbidly obese patients close to 100kg absolutely need this surgery. I’m a little bit fat, but I’m not severely obese! Why did I choose the gastric band?... I’m gonna be married soon so I need to be slim in my wedding dress… but this is not the only reason. I received a gastric band surgery 6 months ago from Dr. KANG. I’m very curious to know whether I could get this appearance or not if I didn’t meet Dr. KANG. After my wedding, I gave a birth to my daughter and quickly gained weight. Since I was born, I used to be healthy. However, when I reached my thirties, I became obese and I started to dislike myself. I am a happy mom of 3 wonderful children (twin boys and 1 girl). I had had my little girl first, and then I gained 35Kg during my first pregnancy. After giving the birth to my daughter, I lost 20Kg.
