Cardiology and Cardiovascular Surgery - Angiography and Rhythm Disorders Center
Throughout the course of its 20 years of experience, Sisli Florence Nightingale Hospital has performed a total of 40,000 heart surgeries and 100,000 angio and angioplasty, coronary laser and permanent pacemaker applications.  

Maintaining its leading position as the initiator of many innovations in our country, the Sisli Florence Nightingale’s surgical staff of 35 persons, performs annually 2,500 surgeries ( mostly on beating heart) in its 12 operation rooms and over 8,000 angiography, balloon angioplasty and stent procedures  in 3 procedure rooms at its Angio Laboratories. 

For the heart surgeries, the average lenght of stay of a patient is 1 day in intensive care and 8 days in the patient room. One of the patients relative is allowed to stay over with the patient as a companion. 

Robotic Heart and Prostate Surgery (daVinci)
Florence Nightingale Hospitals perform robotic surgeries using the daVinci Robotic Surgery System, which is available only in the most advanced medical centers and hospitals of the world. Housing highly specialized surgeons, without opening the body with large sections and using tiny robotic tools which are more sensitive than human hand.  

The daVinci Robotic Surgery System is safely used in cardiovascular, urology, gynecology and general surgeries. The chance of protecting the nerves in prostate surgeries is much greater with robotic surgery system.

Organ Transplantation team of Group Florence Nightingale with 30 experts of doctors, nurses, technicians who are rightfully reputable in surgery and life saving procedures  successfully performs 100 liver and kidney transplants each year from live and cadaver donors without having to wait in the line and with the lowest life loss rate as accepted in world standards. In 4 years, a total of  220 liver transplants were performed from 152 live and 68 cadaver donors, and a total of 95 kidney transplants were performed in two years from 60 live, and 35 cadaver donors. 

Our Hepatobiliary Surgery Team continues its practices on liver, bilier duct and pancreas diseases. Surgical operations are successfully performed as a result of experience in technically challenging fields like liver resection surgeries, with a multidisciplinary approach to liver tumors, destroying the tumors by heat using Radio Frequency Ablation (RFA), and surgical operations on pancreas diseases and pancreas tumors.

In the Transplantation Center established under the body of Private Şişli Florence Nightingale Hospital, transplantation surgeries are carried out ensuring that the standards of success adopted by leading transplantation centers of the world are met. 

Our team, which achieved a great success in liver transplantation both in our country and the world, has hosted domestic and foreign physicians, organized meetings and presented the improvements they made by scientific studies, publications and conventions, within a period of one year.

In addition to our physicians’ team, the experiences gained by nurses and health care personnel working at the operating room, intensive care and service units have made liver transplantation surgeries become a routine operation carried out through established protocols in our transplantation center. With this successful organization, a complicated surgery such as liver transplantation may now be offered as a treatment option that can easily reached by our patients.

Our kidney and pancreas transplantation program is working actively in the light of developments in the world. Transplantation of kidney from a living donator through laparoscopic method requires a shorter stay and offers transplantation patients a life without dialysis.

Our team also carries out studies on liver, biliary tract and pancreas diseases. Successful operations are performed adopting an experienced approach in the fields of liver resection surgeries, which create technical difficulties, multi disciplinary surgical approach to liver tumors, ignition of tumors by Radio Frequency Ablation (RFA) as required, as well as pancreas diseases and surgical interventions in pancreas tumors. 

Stroke Center
Stroke, which happens as a result of disturbance in blood vessels feeding the brain or cerebral hemorrhage, ranks first among the diseases that lead to disability. This disease is the third common reason of death in the world, after heart attacks and cancer. The risk of stroke increases with the age; while stroke is the only neurological disease that is most common and preventable. It is of vital importance to diagnose and start the treatment of this disease in the first 6 hours, which shows itself with an instant paralysis, callosity, difficulty in speech, sight impairment in one or both eyes, dizziness, imbalance or double sight. In the event of disturbance in blood vessels feeding the brain, the patient is urgently taken to neuro-angiography laboratory, where the disturbance may be eliminated by accessing the vessel through catheter method and local application of the thrombolysis medicine. In the event of cerebral hemorrhage, on the other hand, the hemorrhage may be removed rapidly and easily without harming the surrounding brain tissue with the application of a method called "stereotaxic surgery".

Our center carries out all these operations with the principle of "continuous treatment in 24 hours/day, 7 days/week and 365 days/year" for the first time in our country. All of these comprehensive treatment services are provided at our center with a "stroke team" comprised of specialists from various disciplines. Following the treatments made in early period, our patients are first monitored in "stroke extensive care units" and then put through an intensive and comprehensive rehabilitation treatment at "stroke rehabilitation clinics", "stroke house care units", and "stroke chronic care clinics" that have been formed at our center. During this rehabilitation stage, an extensive speech and swallowing therapy is provided, again for the first time in our country. As a result of these treatments, up to 50% decrease has been achieved in death and disability rates. In order to carry this success forward, our patients are offered a protective treatment and are monitored in the stroke polyclinic at regular intervals.

PET-CT Screening System being used at Private Gayrettepe Florence Nightingale Hospital is accepted as the most advanced technology of the world in screening systems. PET-CT is a brand new screening technique where Positron Emission Tomography and Computer Tomography function together. 

Cancer Diagnosis and PET-CT: PET-CT is successfully used particularly in the early diagnosis of lung cancer which is rapidly increasing in the world. PET-CT provides a sensitive diagnosis in the early formation period of the cancer tissue even in dimensions of 7 mm. This way, the disease may be detected at a very early stage before the tumor cell reaches outside the lung. PET-CT provides successful results in skin cancer, breast cancer and particularly in colon cancer.

Alzheimer Diagnosis and PET-CT: Since lapse of memory is one of the major symptoms of Alzheimer disease, it is one of the common problems that today's people are worried about. With the diagnosis of Alzheimer disease at an early stage, PET-CT provides great benefits in the recovery period.

The care we saw at all levels was exceptional we were impressed by the radiological assessment, care of patient selection and the standards of anesthesia and surgery. We observed a wide variety of useful techniques and aspects of care in particular relation to the living liver transplantation and anesthesia.
 
A major strength of the unit is the closely-knit nature of the team and the way they work together. The close working relationship between the donor and recipient surgical teams is obviously essential to the process but we were also very impressed by the excellent relationship with the other team members in all aspects of care.

This was a very valuable visit for us allowing us to gain enormously from the substantial experience of an outstanding unit demonstrating high standards excellent outcomes and a quite remarkable volume at work. We look forward to further collaborations as we establish our own live donor program here in Cambridge.

I was referred to your hospital with intestinal problems. Before I had 4 surgeries and unfortunately could not gain my health. Through the chief advisor to government Dr. Shaip Muja's kind interest I was referred to your hospital. With your help, I came to Istanbul by an ambulance plane. I was really hopeless.
 
When I arrived to Istanbul to your Sisli Florence Nightingale Hospital at almost midnight, I was fully escorted and my room and a team of doctors was ready to examine me.
 
That night they gave me medicine and prepared me for a surgery dated for the next morning. On 15th December I was operated under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Yildiray Yuzer and his surgical team for 4 and a half hours. After that I was under control of Prof. Dr. Osman Bayindir and his team at ICU. I was expected to stay at ICU for 5 days, but, fortunately I was sent to the 3rd floor to my private room after stayin in ICU for only one day. On third day after the surgery I started to eat and walk and every passing day I started to feel better. On the 17th day after surgery I felt more better.
 
I stayed at hospital for 20 days and I noticed that everyday I was progressing in a very healthy and rapid way.
I personally want to thank the president of the hospital Prof. Dr. Cemsid Demiroglu for giving me the chance to be operated in Florence Nightingale Hospital. I would like to thank my head surgeon Prof. Dr.Yildiray Yuzer, surgeon Dr. Murat Dayangac, head of anesthesy team and ICU Prof. Dr. Osman Bayindir, all my nurses and all teams that were interested in my illness. I also would like to thank Medical Directory and International Patient Department.
 
Now I am in Ipek-Kosovo, I am thankful for the miracle that became true at Florence Nightingale Hospital.
