Mini Gastric Bypass Overview

Mini gastric bypass surgery is also known as sleeve gastric bypass surgery or a mini gastric surgical procedure. Gastric bypass surgery literally bypasses the bulk of the stomach and encourages massive weight loss in obese individuals. Mini gastric bypass surgery is performed using a laparoscopic approach, meaning minimally invasive techniques and procedures. The smaller portion of stomach and the tube that now leads to the small intestine causes the food to digest more slowly, in addition to reducing the number of calories and fat absorbed by the small intestine than otherwise. Individuals undergoing a mini sleeve gastric bypass procedure will be required to maintain a limited and adequate diet for long-term success and effectiveness.
