Erol AKIN, Orthodontist - Istanbul, Turkey

I was born on 26 June 1964 in Amasya. I have finished my primary, secondary and high school education in Berlin, Trabzon and Amasya respectively. In 1982, I got into Hacettepe University Faculty of Dentistry and graduated in 1987.

I joined the Turkish Armed Forces the same year and was appointed to Eskişehir Military Hospital as a Lieutenant dentist. In September 1993, I passed the exam of doctoral examination at Gülhane Military Medical Academy, Center of Dental Sciences, Department of Orthodontics.

In 1997, I completed my doctoral education with my thesis on “The Effects of Nitric Oxide on Osteoclast Activity in Experimental Orthodontic Tooth Movements”. I was appointed to Eskişehir Military Hospital as an orthodontist.

In 2002, I was appointed as a Major Assistant Professor. On 12 December 2006, I received the Associate Professor in Orthodontics title.

In March 2009, I resigned from my job at Gülhane Military Medical  Academy and started to work at Medicana Dental Hospital. I resigned from Medicana Dental Hospital in June 2011. I worked as a part-time faculty member at İstanbul Aydın University between August 2011 and June 2015.

Currently, I am performing my job in various clinics as a part-time orthodontist. My interests include Orthognathic Surgery, Inclused Teeth, Lingual Orthodontics (Incognito and Harmony) and Wilckodontics (Accelerated Orthodontics and Propel). I have Botox, Dermal Filler and Implant training.

I am single and have two children. I can speak German and English.
