I had my RNY with Dr. Aguirre on January 21, 2004. I started out at a pound or two shy of 300 pounds. The surgery was quick, relatively pain-free. and uncomplicated. The first year I lost about 110 pounds, and felt successful. But I continued to drink alcohol (I collected wine), and thought stopping at 187 pounds was just fine. I stayed that way for 12 years. Then I was diagnosed with a liver condition (because the combination of RNY and alcohol was liver-damaging) and gave up drinking. I immediately restarted my weight loss, and after only a few months dropped an additional 60 pounds! I lost 170 of my 300 pounds, and am now a healthy size 4. Dr. Aguirre was a miracle worker in my life. I wholeheartedly recommend his services. Thank you, Dr. Aguirre!
