About - Prof. Patrizio Rigatti

Bio 

Prof. Patrizio Rigatti has performed so far more than 50,000 surgical procedures, focusing especially on urologic
oncology and urethral, bladder and ureter reconstructive surgery.

Prof. Rigatti uses both traditional surgical methods and modern robot assisted laparoscopy and green light laser to treat various types of urologic cancers and to remove tumors. He was one of the first surgeons in Europe to use local hypothermia to treat supperficial bladder tumors and prostatic diseases and he was one of the first to use penile protheses to treat impotency.

Prof. Patrizio Rigatii has published various studies on the heat therapy, Synergo technology and intracavity hypothermia. He was the first who brought to Italy the ultrasound guided interstitial radiotherapy for prostate cancer (Brachytherapy) and also Cryoablation with third-generation probes.

  • more than 1,200 scientific publications on Urology.
  • various chapters on Urology for numerous textbooks adopted by the Faculties of Medicine and Surgery.
  • author of many scientific publications on radical prostatectomy, renal lumpectomy and adrenalectomy surgery and cryoablation of renal tumors.

Education

Prof. Patrizio Rigatti directed the Urology Division starting with 1990 and during this period he took part in the European programs of the E.O.R.T.C.(European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer) to research and treat cancer of the genitourinary tract.
