There is research evidence that shows more than 80% of individuals with Relapsing Multiple Sclerosis (MS), and 90% of patients with primary and secondary progressive MS, had Chronic Cerebrospinal Venous Insufficiency (CCSVI) that could be treated using the breakthrough Liberation Therapy. Chronic Cerebrospinal Venous Insufficiency (CCSVI) is a word coined by Dr. Paulo Zamboni, an Italian physician and phlebotomist from the University of Ferrara in Italy. The CCSVI Diagnostic Process begins with a consultation with your doctor. After which, a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) with contrast for 40 minutes is performed followed by a Doppler ultrasound (UTZ) and CT venography, which is both performed for 10 minutes each.
The MRI measures the blood flow and pressure difference near the narrowed vein. On the other hand, the Doppler UTZ is performed to detect the occurrence of backflow of blood (reflux). Then, a venography (dye injection) is conducted to assess stenosis (narrowing of a vein) and blood flow to the brain and neck.
The CCSVI Liberation Process is termed “Liberation Therapy” because it unblocks the restricted blood flow from the brain, reversing the devastating effects of MS.
In this procedure, the surgeon inserts a balloon into the “stenosed” vein, inflating the balloon, opening it up to make the vein get bigger. If the surgeon assesses that the vein won’t stay opened on its own, they may decide to insert a stent to keep the vein open, to allow blood to flow easily and prevent additional iron build-up within the spinal cord and brain.
Adult Stem Cells are harvested thru micro-liposuction, wherein 30 cc of fat will be extracted from a patient’s stomach. From this amount of stomach fat, 200 million adult stem cells will be used. Once the stem cells are separated, it is reintroduced back into the patient’s body, through a catheter or IV drip. As soon as they are inside the body, the stem cells start working to repair the damaged nerves caused by either CCSVI or MS.
The CCSVI- MS Therapy combination is a lot different from the other stem cell treatments. Patients who have undergone this combination process are guaranteed drug-free and goals of treatment does not emphasize in pacifying the symptoms. Rather, it helps in tackling the disease through the physical changes which can cause favourable modifications experienced by the patient.
