"Globalization of healthcare is here to stay. We're seeing growth of healthcare chains. Before, there might have been a concentration of one hospital chain within a country. Now, we are starting to see them grow beyond their borders."
Karen Timmons, Chief Executive Officer, Joint Commission International

Medical tourism is a rapidly growing market which is aggressively being developed by both public and private sectors, healthcare organizations and the travel sector, with a huge potential for emerging partnerships between other players such as hotel chains, property developers, airlines, insurance companies, financial institutions, etc. Many overseas patients are flocking to Asia, especially popular destinations such as Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia and India for their medical treatments because of the high-quality and competitively lower costs for healthcare as compared to their home countries.
