It is also important to mention the importance of physical exercise in hair recovery.

How is it done? First, the patient is accurately diagnosed and then, the hair mesotherapy is applied according to the clinical chart, which establishes the following frequencies for interfollicular injections:

·         (1) Once a month

·         (2) Twice a month

·         (3) Three times a month

·         (4) Four times a month

Transplant of the Brows

In cases of absence of brows or unevenly grown brows, it is today possible to reconstruct a pleasant looking brows with hair transplant. The transplant of brows is an application derived from hair transplant.
Only one hair needs to be transplanted at a time. The orientation of the incision must be perfectly done to receive the hair.

Usually, hair is being used, but in cases where it is workable, hairs from the arm or the chest, extracted according to the FUE (Follicular Unit Extract) technique, may be used. The hair is cut at a length of one cm so as to to be able to perfectly adjust its orientation in the incision.

In most cases, we use hair from the nape of the neck as these are thinner than hair from the other areas. Furthermore, their texture is closer to that of the brows.

Moustache Transplant

In most cases, the transplant is done to hide the scar from a harelip. As for the brows, the implantation must be done with one hair at a time.

The hair is cut at a length of one cm so as to to be able to perfectly adjust its orientation in the incision. The technique provides excellent results and it is possible to immediately appreciate the obtained result.

Transplant of hairs on the pubis

The technique is similar to that for the transplant of hair, brows or moustaches.

It is painless and it is performed with local anaesthesia.

It takes only one session of approximately 3 or 4 hours.

It is natural and it lasts for a lifetime.

It does not require follow-up maintenance.

Unlike other centers, we have a nurse anesthetist and cardiologist doctor monitoring throughout the entire procedure.

To ensure the patient’s safety and support, we perform all of the procedures in highly equipped operating rooms at clinics and medical facilities, although the surgeries are ambulatory.

Alimentary aspect. Hair -like skin and nails- is constantly renewing itself and its metabolism and regeneration are directly related to food habits, in the same way that its beauty is essential to it. Besides, the hair follicles cells have a special feature: their reproductive speed is higher than other cells of the body. That is the reason why hair growth in humans is fast and it is conditioned to metabolism or endocrinal disorders.

Extremely greasy or dry hair, or what is worse, loss of hair, are usually signs of an internal body problem. Therefore, we can state that hair’s ‘looks’ are directly related to people’s food habits, since there is a direct relation between food nutrients and metabolism and between metabolism and hair follicles growth.

Nutritional deficiencies end up weakening the hair follicle structure, causing breakage and slow regeneration, which takes away the hair’s natural beauty. These hair disorders can be fixed by following an appropriate and balanced diet. Among the most important micronutrients we find vitamin A, vitamin B, biotin, vitamin C, copper, iron, zinc and chromium. The most important macronutrients are proteins. We cannot, though, forget about the importance of daily intakes of water (sometimes during intense exercise or while playing sports, the body can suffer temporary states of dehydration) which is present in all metabolic processes. The recommended amount of water –or liquids in general- per day is around 6 or 8 glasses.
Therefore, any lack of vitamins, minerals or proteins can lead to hair weakening, fragility and loss. The lack of iron in people with anaemia or with iron deficiencies, can also damage hair or even trigger its loss.

In certain types of low calories diets, the proportion of proteins is reduced below the daily recommended amounts, which can lead to weak hair that gets thinner and more opaque each day, losing its natural beauty. This translates into breakable hair with split ends and precocious loss. To keep a good biological-quality protein dose, daily diet should include enough amounts of eggs, dairy products and fish. The intake of fat is determined by the presence of fats of vegetal origin (nuts and olive oil) which prevent dry and breakable hair. Another indispensable kind of fats for hair growth is linoleic acid (present in sunflower oil and soy oil) which is essential for hair to grow strong and shinny. Sometimes, people whose diets include excessive percentages of fats or carbohydrates present eczema and itch on the scalp that leads to scratching and possible weakening of hair roots.

The association between biotin and folic acid is necessary for the metabolism of the tissues with quick multiplication cells, like most teguments: hair, skin and nails. For people on healthy diets, the biotin deficiency is rather rare. Besides absorbing it through food, biotin is also generated by the intestinal saprophyte bacteria. Biotin is found in eggs, liver and cereals. In addition to participating in the cellular multiplication of epidermal and hair follicles cells, the folic acid also acts on the formation of leucocytes and erythrocytes and in the synthesis of diverse neurotransmitters.

It can be found in vegetables, oranges, beets, broccolis, liver and some cereals. Many dermatologists are consulted by people who suffer from hair loss which is related to their alimentary habits.

For a diet to be adequate and complete there has to be a balance between the micronutrients (vitamins, minerals and electrolytes). Among the last group, the most important are Zinc and Chromium, because they take part in several biochemical processes of the organism. The shortage of Zinc in a diet can be caused by a low calories diet, by a deficit in the intestinal absorption, the excessive intake of alcoholic beverages or the intake of certain medications like diuretics. When the levels of Zinc in blood are below normal, the person can have dry and breakable hair prone to precocious loss. A Chromium deficit in a diet can cause disorders in the glucics and fats metabolism by altering the levels of glucose and cholesterol in blood. People with these problems can suffer from diffuse hair loss and an increase in blood sugar, like diabetic patients.

There are certain types of food which, if ingested adequately, at the right time and in the proper quantities and proportions, can improve and increase the follicular nutrition, leading to a stronger hair growth. Tegument, skin and nails, including the scalp, will also improve their ‘looks’ with an adequate diet. Vegetables, like salads and fruits, should represent a third of the food ingest a minimum of five days a week. For an energetic balance, the organism needs carbohydrates, which are abundantly found in vegetables, fruits and cereals. Proteins are present mainly in meat, eggs, milk, legumes and cereals. All dairy products ingested must be non-fat and low-calories. When it comes to high glycemic carbohydrates, potatoes, pastas and bread intakes should be reduced because they become glucose and stimulate the production of insulin. Regarding alcoholic beverages, they should be drank with moderation because their excess can decrease the levels of Zinc, folic acid and vitamins C and B. The amount of daily coffee should also be restricted because caffeine excess reduces the levels of vitamins C and B and the concentration of certain minerals like Zinc and Potassium. Extra-fat food, fried food, chocolates and creamy ice-creams are not recommended on a daily basis.

About 70% of women encounter a problem of hair loss during their lifetime

Alopecia is more often diffused among women. It can be distinguished by thin and sparse hair across the scalp, instead of being localised on precised zones (forehead, tonsure) as it is the case with androgenetical alopecia.

It is not hereditary and can occur at any moment in one's life, as it is more often linked to external factors like stress, overwork, the intake of certain medication or drugs, pollution, etc…

But more and more women are now suffering from the androgenetical alopecia

The androgenetical loss of hair is easy to spot: contrary to loss due to some deficiency, the hair are sparse only of the top of the head, while the nape of the neck and the temples are dense and well covered with hair.

The androgenetical loss of hair among women has been noticed some 20 years ago and since then, it has been affecting an ever growing number of women. Some scientists speak of a transformation of alopecia among women. It accounts for 35% of hair loss among women.

It is known as androgenetical since it follows from an hereditary predisposition. Thus, most of the women suffering from hairloss, have either their father or a grandfather who must have faced this problem as well, but this does not mean that all those suffering from an androgenetical alopecia will have children who will be predisposed to this.

In order to identify whether the hairloss is due to some deficiency or is androgenetical, we undertake a capillary diagnostic prior to each operation.

Soft Follicular MicroTransplant: the procedure is performed using only local anaesthesia, it is painless and it lasts approximately 3 hours. It is ambulatory, which means that once the procedure is over, the patient can go home by his own means. It does not require rest, so the patient can go back to his usual activities within the 24 hours. It is also definitive, because since the implanted hair belongs to the patient himself, there is no possibility of rejection. It lasts forever and it can be dyed and cut normally.

Donor area:Procedure that consists of the removal of a strip of scalp from the occipital area –it can also be extended from both temporal areas to the rear level of the atrial auricle. Two centimetres above that area, an aesthetic stitch brings the edges of scalp closer together, without leaving any visible scars. Besides, it remains hidden by one’s own hair.

Processing: using specialized and state-of-the-art technology, the strip of scalp previously removed is dissected every 2 mm and then, follicular units containing 1, 2 and even 3 hairs are extracted from each graft. The preservation technique is the harvest, similar to the one used with blood plasma and in cold chains. This method is performed by highly trained and experienced personnel (usually four).

Recipient area: a special design is created for each patient according to his features and areas of less hair density so that afterwards, the hair follicles can be implanted -one at a time- following the natural orientation of the hair in each area. The high level of detail in the equipment used allows the achievement of higher hair density as it preserves the blood irrigation. The amount of follicular units varies from 800 to 2000 according to the density of the donor area of the patient. The follicular units contain 1, 2, 3 and even 4 strands of hair, therefore, the total amount of transplanted hairs goes from 2000 to 7000 approximately.

Hair Cloning

Thanks to a new technique called follicular cell implantation, recover the lost hair will be easier now. The technique involves taking a small sample of only a few millimeters in diameter of scalp from the back of the neck, as this usually keep the hair even in case of baldness by the genetic code differently. This sample is sufficient to obtain in the laboratory after thousands of cells of the dermal papillae, which are responsible for hair growth.

The cells are cultured and after 60 days will be ready to go back to being implanted in the scalp. The results of this new technique can be observed at 6 months after implantation.

No doubt this technique represents a quantum leap in what refers to hair transplant. For now it is in the testing stage, nineteen people have been subjected to the implant, eleven of which had satisfactory results, representing a 66% chance of success.

Tobacco causes baldness in men

A scientific study says that Asian males cigarette smoking leads to baldness, as the snuff can damage the blood and DNA of the scalp.

According to research published in the journal Archives of Dermatology men who smoke at least 20 cigarettes a day are exposed to greater risk of androgenic alopecia "moderate or severe (grade 4-7 in Hamilton scale).

The androgenic alopecia is the most common among men. It usually starts with entries in the temples and then is followed by hair loss at the crown and forehead and may lead to total baldness.

The new study is based on an analysis of the volume of hair and smoking habits of 740 men conducted in Taiwan between 40 and 91 years of age. The authors, doctors of the Far Eastern Memorial Hospital and National Taiwan University, claim that smoking may destroy hair follicles from which hair emerges, damage blood vessels that supply the root and damage to the hormones that stimulate growth, or increase production of estrogen, which neutralizes the effects of androgen, the hormone that causes hair growth in men.
