IJN was part of the Kuala Lumpur General Hospital until September 1992, when we were corporatised and established as a separate and specialist entity committed to delivering the most advanced standards in cardiovascular and thoracic medicine for adult and paediatric heart patients.  IJN has since gained wider recognition as the leading cardiovascular and thoracic health center in the region as the rising number of referrals for complicated and demanding cases.  Today we are an integrated one-stop center offering comprehensive cardiac services under one roof.

Our Facilities

IJN offers you the most advanced and comprehensive clinical treatment facilities for a wide range of heart and lung conditions; and while you are here, you will be cared for in rooms outfitted to soothing levels of comfort.  These facilities include:

  • Eight general wards for cardiology and cardiothoracic cases with a selection of suites from the single to the six-bedded that are equipped with television, telephone, en-suite bathrooms and nurse call system.  Each ward is equipped with an isolation room for cases that need special attention
  • An 18-bed intensive care unit (ICU) for patients who requires intensive care post-surgery
  • A 12-bed Coronary Care Unit (CCU) for patients needing intensive care
  • A 10-bed Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) and 5-bed Medical Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (MICU for paediatric patients especially neonates needing intensive care
  • 24-hour Emergency Department with a six-bed observation unit for unstable angina, myocardial infarction and chest pain cases
  • Five operating theatres
  • Four Invasive Cardiovascular laboratories
  • An 11-bed fully monitored Day-care ward for patients undergoing invasive cardiology procedures where patients need only stay for a few hours before being allowed to return home

In delivering the best care, we have a team of consultant physicians that has always been innovative in introducing the latest and most effective techniques in the treatment of heart patients for both interventional cardiology procedures as well as heart surgeries.  Our vast array of treatments include angiogram and angioplasty procedures via radial artery, implantation of AICDs, minimally invasive surgeries, stent implantations, endoscopic vein harvesting, off-pump surgery, bypass surgery on ‘awake’ patients and implantation of mechanical heart assist device which are now already available at IJN.

Our care and treatment encompass complete cardiac rehabilitation programmes which include physical and emotional support and diet counseling.

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia Destination Overview

IJN is located right at the heart of Kuala Lumpur (KL) city and have accessible less than 15 minutes to major shopping area and tourist attraction centre in KL such as:

  1. Petronas Twin Towers, one of the world’s tallest buildings and second and third tallest singular towers with a height of 1453 feet. The towers are located adjacent to the busiest shopping malls in Malaysia the Suria KLCC. It is a premier shopping centre in Kuala Lumpur, spacious and elegantly decorated. Louis Vuitton, Marks and Spencer, Burberry, Gucci, Hugo Boss, Hush Puppies are some of the high end retailers seen here. Tiffany & Co, the world class jewelry retailer is favourite with tourists.
  2. Bintang Walk - for both shopaholics and coffee-sipping night owls, Bukit Bintang is one of the hippest streets in the city. It's a perfect place for people-watching over a latte between bouts of bargain. Shopping destination at this area inclusive of Starhill shopping complex for branded goods and exclusive boutiques, Sg. Wang Plaza for cheap and bargained items, Low Yat Plaza for electronic goods and IT equipments, Lot 10, etc).
  3. The Mid Valley Megamall which is currently Southeast Asia’s largest shopping mall is located in Kuala Lumpur.
  4. Petaling Street - This place is famous for bargain shopping. Beware of branded goods that are not genuine. Petaling street is other wise known as Malaysia’s China town.
  5. Central Market, the award-winning Art Deco building which is now a lively market for Malaysian arts and handicrafts.
  6. Taman Tasik Perdana, also known as the Lake Gardens, is the oldest park in Kuala Lumpur. Created from former mining land, the main attraction at Taman Tasik Perdana is the artificial lake surrounded by 92 hectares of lush, undulating greenery. The park also has jogging tracks and exercise stations, as well as children's playground. Other attractions include Bird Park, Butterfly Park, Deer Park and an Orchid Garden.
  7. Titiwangsa Recreational Park is situated within 15 minutes walk from IJN. This placid lake provides a good spot to reflect and find some solitude in the otherwise urban environment of Kuala Lumpur. There are facilities for jogging, workout stations and a restaurant. Also available are facilities for canoeing and aqua biking.
  8. National Theatre which is located across the road in front of IJN is one of the most sophisticated theatres in the world and hosts contemporary and traditional performances.
  9. Kuala Lumpur Tower is the world’s fifth tallest telecommunications tower. It is located on the Bukit Nanas hill beside the convent Bukit Nanas.

Other than public buses and taxis, IJN also has easy access to major train/LRT stations:

  • PUTRA LRT (Ampang Park station) – 3 minutes  drive / 20 minutes walk
  • STAR LRT (Titiwangsa station) – 3 minutes drive / 20 minutes walk
  • MONORAIL (Titiwangsa station) – 3 minutes drive / 20 minutes walk
