Dr. Rita Spirito is Head of the Vascular and Endovascular Surgery Division at Centro CardiologicoMonzino, Milan. She is also Professor on contract for Vascular Surgery and Cardiac Surgery at the University of Milan.
She is a consultant for Vascular Surgery at the European Institute of Oncology, Milan.
She used to be Professor on contract for the post-graduate degree in Techniques of Cardio Circulating Physiopathology and Cardiovascular Perfusion, University of Milan.

She has participated in national and international congresses as speaker, moderator and chairperson.
She visited the Methodist Hospital Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, USA- for an evaluation of new surgery techniques and an exchange of views on thoracic aortic surgery and the new methods for reducing related paraplegia complication.

She is the author of more than 200 articles, published in national and international scientific journals.
Her research is focused on the causes ( biological, histological etc) and manifestation of carotid stenosis. Post thoracic aortic surgery paraplegia.Comparative evaluation of different devices in endovascular surgery.
The Vascular and Endovascular Surgery Division, headed by Dr. Spirito, carries out open, endovascular and hybrid treatments for pathologies related to aortic-arch surgery, descending thoracic aorta, thoracic- abdominal aortic diseases, supra aortic vessel and limb artery pathologies. All types of venous diseases are also treated.
She has personally performed more than 3000 cases of surgery.
