Professor Dr. Ali Uğur URAL - Hematologist & Stem Cell Therapy

Prof. Dr. Ali Uğur URAL was born in Ankara in 1960. He completed his medical education with honors at Gülhane Military Medical Academy in 1985. In 1993, he obtained his specialization in Internal Medicine. In 1995, he completed his subspecialty in Hematology, becoming a Hematology Specialist. He achieved the titles of Assistant Professor in 1996, Associate Professor in 1998, and Professor in 2004.

In 1996, he completed international training at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York, USA, and in 2001, at the Karolinska Institute in Sweden. In the same year, he conducted experimental research on "Mesenchymal Stem Cell Differentiation."

Upon returning to Turkey, Prof. Dr. URAL focused on Autologous and Allogeneic Bone Marrow Transplantation research at GATA (Gülhane Military Medical Academy). During the same period, he also conducted cell culture and stem cell research at the Research Center. In 2009, he pioneered the use of Mesenchymal Stem Cells in liver cirrhosis in Turkey, and he completed studies on the use of Mesenchymal Stem Cells in Wilson's disease, Crohn's disease, and Atonic Bladder disease.

Throughout his academic career, Prof. Dr. Ali Uğur URAL has been a speaker at numerous national and international conferences, congresses, and meetings on hematological malignancies and hematological diseases. He has also been actively involved as an organizer and educator in many courses related to cell culture and stem cells, as well as presenting papers and lectures. He has worked as a researcher on projects funded by TUBITAK, the Ministry of Industry, and local research grants. He has also managed specialization courses in the field of medicine. He has published more than 185 articles in national and international journals, with over 1000 citations. He has received over 22 awards from various organizations for his successful work.

Prof. Dr. Ali Uğur URAL is a member of several professional organizations, including the European Group for Blood and Marrow Transplantation, the International Bone Marrow Transplantation Society, the Turkish Hematology Association, the Turkish Biochemistry Association, the Cellular Therapies and Regenerative Medicine Association, the Molecular Cancer Research Association, the European Cancer Research Association, the Cell Death Research Association, and the Leukemia-Myeloma Association. He is proficient in English, married, and a father of two children.

He currently serves as the Head of the Hematology and Stem Cell Transplantation Center at Ankara Bayındır Hospital, where he continues his professional work.
