The Mommy Makeover is a set of different procedures that help the patient get her pre-pregnancy body back. Procedures may include Breast lift, Facelift, Tummy Tuck, and Liposuction.without Breast Implant
A breast lift, also known as mastopexy, raises the breasts by removing excess skin and tightening the surrounding tissue to reshape and support the new breast contour. Sometimes the areola becomes enlarged over time, and a breast lift will reduce this as well. A breast lift can rejuvenate your figure with a breast profile that is more youthful and uplifted. A woman's breasts often change over time, losing their youthful shape and firmness. These changes and loss of skin elasticity can result from pregnancy, breastfeeding, weight fluctuations, gravity, or heredity. New statistics from the American Society of Plastic Surgeons show breast lifts have grown 70% since 2000, outpacing breast implants 2-to-1.
The breast lift surgery does not significantly change the size of your breasts or round out the upper part of your breast. If you want your breasts to look fuller and rounded, consider breast lift and breast augmentation surgery. If you want smaller breasts, consider combining breast lift and breast reduction surgery. Abdominoplasty
The abdominoplasty, better known as Tummy tuck, removes excess fat and skin and, in most cases, restores weakened or separated muscles creating an abdominal profile that is smoother and firmer. This muscular tightening results in a very flat abdominal area, and in many cases, we can get rid of unwanted stretch marks when they are located on the areas of excess skin that will be excised. A flat and well-toned abdomen is something many of us strive for through exercise and weight control. Sometimes these methods cannot achieve our goals. Even individuals with otherwise normal body weight and proportion can develop an abdomen that protrudes or is loose and sagging. The most common causes of this include aging, heredity factors, pregnancy, prior surgery, and important fluctuations in weight.ll Face Lift vs. Mini Face Lift
As we grow older the skin covering the fatty tissue on our faces begins to loosen and sag in various places. This loosening of skin produces wrinkles and enhances the skin folds of the face, especially around the jaw, chin, and neck area. Rhytidectomy, or facelift, is a procedure that tightens the muscles and skin of the face producing a younger-looking appearance. Technically known as rhytidectomy, a full facelift is a surgical procedure to improve visible signs of aging in the face (Forehead, Jaw + Cheek, and neck lift). Best candidates for Full Facelift are patients with: Sagging in the Forehead, Cheek, Jaw, and neck; and Loss of muscle tone in the forehead.
Having a baby can be one of the most exciting and fulfilling events in a woman’s life. However, pregnancy and breast-feeding can certainly take a toll on a woman’s physical appearance. The most common changes that occur from pregnancies are to the breast and abdomen. In addition to some women may have significant fluctuations in their weight. Breast changes include stretch marks, skin laxity, nipple enlargement, and volume depletion. Similar changes can occur to the abdomen. Loose skin, stretch marks and increase fat are all common changes. In addition, the muscles of the abdominal wall can become stretched out or weakened.
Mommy makeover is a term used to describe procedures performed on women after their childbearing years. This usually includes change to the breast as well as the abdominal wall. These procedures include such things as breast augmentation breast lift liposuction and abdominoplasty, otherwise known as a Tummy Tuck.
Frequently, procedures are combined in a mommy makeover in order to minimize downtime. Many of the procedures can safely be combined.
Any woman who has developed changes to the breasts and abdomen related to breast-feeding and pregnancies would be an excellent candidate for a mommy makeover, assuming they have returned to their baseline weight and condition. It would also obviously be ideal that the mother does not wish to have any further children. While this is not an absolute contraindication, we do not recommend having surgery prior to completing one’s family.
After the childbearing years, women considering a mommy makeover should maximize their weight loss prior to any surgical procedure. This would allow for obtaining the optimal results possible. Certainly, the patient should have completed breast-feeding and should no longer be lactating. In addition to any other underlying medical conditions should be addressed by their gynecologist or primary care physician in preparation for a surgical procedure. Finally, as with any surgical procedure, a patient should be free of any nicotine products including cigarettes, nicotine patches, or vapor devices.
Depending on the procedures performed as instructed by her physician, recovery is generally in the 4 to 6 week period to return to full unrestricted activities and exercise.
There is always scarring associated with surgery. An abdominoplasty, a breast lift, as well as a breast augmentation all involve some type of scarring; however, these generally heal very well and are well hidden by any bikini or bra garments.
Ideally, we would prefer that the patients have returned to their pre-pregnancy weight if possible. In addition, we recommend waiting at least three to six months following breast-feeding so that the breasts may return to or involute to their new natural position.
If a patient is considering having more children it would be unwise to have a mommy makeover. Additional pregnancies would have the same effects on the breast and abdomen as the initial pregnancy did. Therefore you may require further revisionary procedures. While there is no contraindication to becoming pregnant after a mommy makeover it would be much more practical to wait until after the childbearing years have been completed.
A mommy makeover is a significant commitment and investment. We would hope that the patient would be able to maintain a healthy lifestyle and maintain an ideal body weight postoperatively as with any healthy lifestyle this would consist of avoiding smoking and excess weight gain. With regards to the breasts, we do recommend patients continue to wear breast support to minimize gravitational effects on the breasts. In addition, it goes without saying that pregnancies after a mommy makeover would certainly have a negative effect on the recent procedures.
