From Diagnosis to Healing: Gareth’s Alternative Cancer Treatment Story in Tijuana

Comprehensive Guide to Alternative Follicular Lymphoma Treatment: Gareth’s Success Story at Immunity Therapy Center

Receiving a diagnosis of follicular lymphoma can feel like an insurmountable weight, especially when traditional medical pathways offer limited hope or involve aggressive treatments with debilitating side effects. Gareth McCown, a resident of Lake Charles, Louisiana, found himself at this exact crossroads after years of struggling with persistent symptoms and a growing tumor. Despite his commitment to a healthy lifestyle, the conventional "watch and wait" or high-dose chemotherapy models didn't align with his vision of true healing.

His journey led him across the border to the Immunity Therapy Center (ITC) in Tijuana, Mexico, where he discovered a personalized, integrative approach to oncology. This guide explores Gareth's transformative experience, the specific alternative treatments that helped him achieve a cancer-free status, and why thousands of patients are now looking toward Mexico for advanced, non-toxic cancer solutions. Watch his full testimony to understand the power of targeted immunotherapy and holistic care.

The Long Road to a Follicular Lymphoma Diagnosis

For Gareth McCown, the journey didn't start with a sudden shock but with a slow, agonizing progression of symptoms. As he shares at [00:04], he had been dealing with physical red flags for nearly six years. Coming from a health-minded family and being an active individual himself, Gareth attempted to manage his health through diet, exercise, and supplementation. However, one specific tumor under his chin continued to enlarge regardless of his lifestyle choices.

Follicular lymphoma is a type of non-Hodgkin lymphoma that develops in the B-cells of the immune system. It is often described as "indolent," meaning it grows slowly. This slow growth, however, can be deceptive, as it often leads to a cycle of remission and relapse in standard Western protocols. By the time Gareth sought a biopsy in April [00:34], the condition was undeniable. The medical system's response was predictable, but Gareth knew he wanted something more comprehensive than just symptom management.

The "watch and wait" approach often suggested for follicular lymphoma can be psychologically taxing for patients. Watching a tumor grow without active intervention feels counterintuitive. Gareth's decision to pursue alternative treatment was driven by a desire to address the root cause of the malignancy rather than waiting for it to become aggressive enough to justify toxic chemotherapy.

The Immunity Therapy Center (ITC) Difference

Upon arriving at Immunity Therapy Center, Gareth noticed a stark contrast between the clinical, often cold atmosphere of US hospitals and the supportive environment in Tijuana. At [00:54], he highlights the exceptional staff and the leadership of Dr. Bautista. The facility is designed to feel less like a hospital and more like a center for healing, where the patient's emotional well-being is considered just as important as their physical metrics.

Dr. Alvarez, another key figure in Gareth's recovery, provided what Gareth calls "great bedside manner." In the alternative medical field, the relationship between the doctor and the patient is a partnership. Patients aren't just a chart number; they are individuals with unique biochemical needs. This confidence in the medical approach helped Gareth stay committed to a rigorous daily schedule of therapies that were designed to strengthen his immune system rather than suppress it.

ITC focuses on immunotherapy—the science of training the body's own immune system to recognize and destroy cancer cells. Unlike traditional chemotherapy, which kills both healthy and cancerous cells indiscriminately, the protocols at ITC aim to be selective. This selectivity is why Gareth was able to complete his treatment without the typical markers of cancer therapy, such as hair loss or extreme nausea.

Integrative Treatment Modalities for Lymphoma

The success Gareth experienced was not the result of a single "silver bullet" but a combination of synergistic therapies. At [02:22], Gareth discusses the various modalities utilized during his stay. These treatments are often unavailable or underutilized in the United States due to regulatory restrictions or a lack of profitability for major pharmaceutical companies.

Therapy Type Function & Benefit
Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy Floods the body with pure oxygen to hinder cancer cell growth (which thrives in low-oxygen environments) and speeds up tissue repair.
Oxygen IVs & Ozone Therapy Directly enriches the bloodstream with oxygen, improving mitochondrial function and stimulating the production of white blood cells.
Red Light Therapy Uses specific wavelengths of light to reduce inflammation, improve circulation, and enhance cellular energy (ATP) production.
Electrotherapy Applies gentle electrical currents to target cancerous regions, disrupting the electrical potential of cancer cell membranes.
Magnetic Mats (PEMF) Pulsed Electromagnetic Field therapy helps to recharge cells and improve the body's natural detoxification processes.

Nutrition as a Healing Pillar

One of the most overlooked aspects of cancer recovery in traditional settings is the patient's diet. Often, hospital food is high in sugar and processed carbohydrates—the very things that fuel tumor growth. At ITC, Gareth found a completely different philosophy. As he notes at [01:46], the nutrition program is highly accommodating and science-based.

The food at ITC is described as "excellent" and "high quality." The center recognizes that there is no "one size fits all" diet for cancer. Depending on the patient's specific metabolic profile and cancer type, the nutritionists can tailor meals ranging from strict vegan protocols to ketogenic diets. For a patient with follicular lymphoma, reducing systemic inflammation through diet is crucial.

By providing the body with nutrient-dense, organic, and non-inflammatory foods, the clinic ensures that the immune system has the building blocks it needs to fight the disease. Gareth felt that being in an environment where every meal was optimized for his health allowed him to focus entirely on the healing process without the stress of managing his own nutrition in a foreign country.

Is Tijuana Safe for Medical Travel?

Many patients hesitate to seek care in Mexico due to concerns about safety and logistics. Gareth addresses this head-on at [03:06]. This was his sixth visit to Tijuana, and he reports never having a single instance of feeling uncomfortable or threatened. He frequently walked several blocks between his hotel and the clinic, noting that the locals are friendly and the medical district is specifically tailored to international visitors.

The Immunity Therapy Center is located very close to the US-Mexico border, making it easily accessible for patients flying into San Diego. The clinic often assists with transportation and logistics, ensuring that the "travel" part of medical tourism is as seamless as possible. For Gareth, the benefits of the treatment far outweighed any perceived risks of traveling abroad.

Life After Treatment: Gareth’s Cancer-Free Results

The most compelling part of Gareth's story is the final outcome. Just months after a diagnosis that could have led to a lifetime of medical dependence, Gareth is walking away cancer-free. At [03:45], he shares the incredible news: his tumors are gone. He feels great, he never got sick during the process, and he maintained his physical appearance, including his hair.

Gareth's message to other patients is one of empowerment. He encourages anyone looking for an alternative to the standard "burn and poison" model of oncology to do their research. "If you are health-minded and looking for an alternative, this is the place," he states at [04:00]. His story serves as a beacon of hope for those diagnosed with follicular lymphoma, proving that with the right combination of technology, nutrition, and compassionate care, the body can indeed heal itself.

While follicular lymphoma is often considered a chronic condition in the US, Gareth's experience at ITC suggests that a different outcome is possible. By focusing on total-body health and utilizing cutting-edge immunotherapy, he was able to reverse his condition and reclaim his life. His success is a testament to the growing field of integrative oncology and the world-class care available at the Immunity Therapy Center.

00:00 So my name is Garreth McCown. I'm from Lake Charles, Louisiana and I was diagnosed in April with follicular lymphoma. 00:12 And it was a condition that I knew I was dealing with something but didn't know what it was. And real health minded and come from a health minded family. 00:22 So for almost six years I was dealing with symptoms, but I was trying to eat right, trying to exercise, try to do all the things that I knew to do—supplementation, prayer. 00:34 And, there was one particular tumor under my chin that just wasn't getting better. It was actually getting bigger no matter what I did. 00:43 I wanted to have it removed. But they said we won't remove it until we know what it is. So I had the biopsy in April, and that's when it was determined that it was follicular lymphoma. 00:54 The staff is great here. Doctor Bautista is really good. I would meet with him once a visit and, he would just make sure I was on schedule. 01:07 I was under Doctor Alvarez, who was fantastic. Great bedside manner. He kept me informed. 01:13 He took his time to educate me on all the questions that I had, and I had a lot of questions. 01:19 So, he did that, and he was very confident in his approach and we got the results that he promised. So, very happy with him. 01:31 And the staff here has been incredible. They're extremely professional, very caring. 01:36 The nursing staff, the nutritionist, the whole staff has been greatly accommodating for me. So I would highly recommend coming here for sure. 01:46 So the nutrition was very good. The food is excellent here, you know. It was very enjoyable. 01:58 And, you know, it's not a one size fits all. They're willing to work with you. You know, if you have certain restriction, they'll work with you anywhere from vegan to almost ketogenic. 02:12 And, so, yeah, they're very accommodating, and the food is high quality, delicious. So I was happy with that. 02:22 Traditional medicine in the States, you know, they want to radiate. They want to cut on you. They want to give you the chemo and such high doses sometimes that you lose your hair, you're vomiting, you're sick. 02:37 You know, the treatments here, they have a lot of extra modalities that they use—hyperbaric chambers, oxygen IVs, red light therapy, electrotherapy, and magnetic mats. 02:58 Yeah, just a lot of different things to get you where you need to be and get your body working like it should to be able to whip cancer. 03:06 So this is my sixth visit to Tijuana, and I've never had one instance where I felt uncomfortable or threatened. 03:20 I've come by myself, and it's not a problem. I stay at a hotel down the road and walk probably six blocks, and never have had an issue whatsoever. The people of Tijuana are very friendly. We're very close to the border. 03:36 For me, coming here was the best decision. I'm walking away just months past diagnosis, cancer free. Tumors are gone. I feel great, and was never sick. Never lost my hair. 03:56 So for me, it was the right choice. I know there's zillions of different types of cancers, but if you are health minded and looking for an alternative, this is the place. 04:06 I see a lot of people getting healthier with various types of cancers. And so, yeah, I would recommend it.
