タン博士は、1999年から2005年にかけて日本に滞在し、ジェノックス製薬研究所および国立成育医療研究センターで主任研究員を務めました。その後、2005年から2011年にかけて、中国医学科学院医薬生物工学研究所（IMB）の副教授を務めました。主な研究テーマは、自己免疫疾患の研究、分子標的の同定、ハイスループット薬物スクリーニングモデルの確立、そして生理活性薬物および薬剤の最適な応用と将来性の発見です。この研究により、2008年に中国国家自然科学基金よりタン博士賞を受賞しました。
