Nurlan's Experience with Bilateral Hip Replacement Surgery in Istanbul

Living with relentless joint pain that turns every single step, stair climb, or simple walk with your family into an exhausting test of endurance can drain all the joy out of daily life. When standard conservative treatments, physical therapy, and temporary injections fail to stop the steady decline of your mobility, the psychological and physical burden becomes overwhelming. You just want to feel like your healthy self again, free from agony, able to play with your children, and capable of moving without constant fear of pain.

In this detailed patient story, we explore the inspiring recovery journey of Nurlan Chormakov, a 43-year-old patient from Almaty, Kazakhstan, who traveled abroad to find a lasting solution for his crippling condition. Facing severe bilateral hip deterioration, Nurlan sought out world-class clinical expertise, ultimately entrusting his care to the renowned Turan Turan Robotic Surgery Center and Orthopedic Clinic. This comprehensive narrative highlights how international medical travelers achieve remarkable freedom through specialized Bilateral Hip Replacement in Istanbul Turkey, showcasing exceptional surgical standards and compassionate human care.

The Searing Onset of Hip Pain and Avascular Necrosis

For Nurlan Chormakov, a 43-year-old office professional living in Almaty, Kazakhstan, physical vitality came to a grinding halt when mysterious joint pain struck in 2022. What began as mild discomfort gradually morphed into a severe condition that stripped away his ability to enjoy active sports, run, jump, or even rest comfortably through the night.

As detailed in the video testimony at [00:42], medical evaluations yielded a devastating diagnosis: avascular necrosis of the femoral head. This serious degenerative illness restricted his daily movements, caused intense agony when climbing stairs, and made his joints excruciatingly sensitive to weather changes, creating a heavy psychological and physical burden.

Exhausting Alternative Therapies and Confronting Surgery

When doctors suggested that his condition might be an unfortunate aftermath of previous COVID-19 complications, Nurlan spent nearly two years trying every available conservative remedy. From platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections to various alternative treatments, he fought hard to avoid an operation.

However, as noted at [01:42], consulting multiple specialists made it clear that surgical intervention was completely inevitable. Needing both legs operated on due to bilateral joint destruction, he began searching for a medical destination capable of delivering world-class safety, technical excellence, and genuine human compassion.

Finding Hope Through Trusted Recommendations Online

Finding the right hospital across international borders can feel overwhelming, but authentic patient testimonials and professional endorsements offer a guiding light. Nurlan came across inspiring recovery stories online and listened to recommendations from Dr. Bakhytgul Khaibrakhmanovna, a respected local doctor in Almaty who had personally witnessed the clinic's stellar work.

Key Factors Influencing Nurlan's Clinic Selection

  • Direct recommendations from medical professionals who visited the facility in person.
  • Transparent and inspiring video accounts shared by former international patients.
  • Specialized expertise focused exclusively on advanced orthopedics and joint reconstruction.
  • Seamless remote diagnosis capabilities through digital imaging review.
  • Dedicated patient coordination ensuring clear communication and reliable support.

As shared at [02:27], connecting with the clinic coordinators allowed Nurlan to submit his scans, receive a prompt remote evaluation, and plan his life-changing trip for specialized Hip Replacement Surgery in Istanbul Turkey with total peace of mind.

Seamless Travel Arrangements and Expert Medical Consultation

Traveling for major surgery is often stressful, but having a dedicated medical tourism support team changes the entire experience. From smooth airport pickups in comfortable Mercedes minibuses to comfortable lodging at the clinic in Bursa, every logistical detail was seamlessly managed.

Journey Stage Clinical & Logistical Support Action Patient Experience & Outcome
Arrival & Transfer Airport pickup and comfortable transport from Istanbul to Bursa. Stress-free travel with almost no physical fatigue.
Pre-Op Diagnostics Rapid execution of hospital examinations, lab tests, and imaging. Immediate readiness and precise surgical planning.
Surgeon Consultation In-person evaluation of posture, gait, and X-rays by Dr. Kayhan Turan. Clear diagnosis confirming the need for simultaneous procedures.

As noted at [03:13], meeting Dr. Kayhan Turan instilled immediate confidence. His immense experience, charisma, and sharp clinical eye were apparent instantly, setting the stage for a successful intervention in the field of Orthopedic Surgery in Istanbul Turkey.

Overcoming Regional Limitations with Simultaneous Bilateral Operations

A major hurdle Nurlan faced back home in Kazakhstan was that local protocols typically required staggering joint surgeries months apart, prolonging recovery and economic strain. He needed a center capable of performing both leg operations safely within a single trip.

As highlighted at [04:10], the clinic successfully performed his first hip surgery on April 16th and the second on April 19th. This efficient, advanced approach eliminated extended waiting periods and provided a streamlined path to full recovery through professional Hip Arthroplasty in Istanbul Turkey.

Early Mobilization and Advanced Post-Operative Rehabilitation

Post-operative care is just as vital as the surgery itself. Nurlan was amazed by how quickly he was encouraged to stand and walk, supported constantly by attentive nurses, translators, and specialized physical therapists equipped with cutting-edge recovery gear.

Core Elements of the Rapid Recovery Protocol

  • Continuous vital sign and pain monitoring by dedicated nursing staff around the clock.
  • Getting patients out of bed and walking on stairs as early as the second day post-surgery.
  • Utilization of continuous passive motion (CPM) devices to safely strengthen leg muscles.
  • Application of deep vein thrombosis (DVT) prevention tools to enhance blood vessel circulation.
  • Gradual transition to unassisted movement without crutches as strength builds up.

As documented at [04:31], getting up to walk up hospital stairs just days after the operation proved that fear has no place when paired with elite medical care.

Heartfelt Gratitude and Looking Forward to Simple Joys

With his surgeries behind him and mobility restored, Nurlan's future outlook is filled with simple, beautiful dreams. No longer burdened by constant pain or sedentary restrictions, he looks forward to walking around the city and holding his daughter's hand.

As warmly concluded at [06:14], Nurlan expresses deep appreciation for Dr. Kayhan Turan, the compassionate medical staff, and dedicated coordinators like Eldar who never left his side. He advises anyone facing similar joint struggles not to be afraid, but to take that brave step toward healing.

[00:00:00] Eventually, I realized that surgery was inevitable.

[00:00:04] As a result, it was decided that I needed surgery on both legs.

[00:00:06] Most of the doctors I consulted said this condition was probably a result of the COVID I had.

[00:00:10] The reason for my visit to Turkey

[00:00:13] was to get both my legs operated on at the same time,

[00:00:16] The surgeries were very successful.

[00:00:21] On the second day, they got me up and had me walking.

[00:00:36] My name is Nurlan Chormakov.

[00:00:37] I'm 43 years old, and I come from Almaty, Republic of Kazakhstan.

[00:00:42] I first felt pain in the hip area in 2022.

[00:00:48] The diagnosis was Avascular necrosis of the femoral head.

[00:00:51] This is a very serious condition.

[00:00:53] This diagnosis seriously restricts my daily activities.

[00:00:58] Therefore, I can't run, jump, or fully enjoy life.

[00:01:03] I can't rest completely,

[00:01:07] I can't do any active sports.

[00:01:09] So, I'm having a lot of difficulties.

[00:01:11] My joints hurt when climbing stairs.

[00:01:15] The joints are also very sensitive to weather changes.

[00:01:18] This severely restricts my daily activities.

[00:01:21] I am very tired of this situation.

[00:01:23] I want to return to my life when I was healthy.

[00:01:27] Most of the doctors I consulted said this condition was probably a result of the COVID I had.

[00:01:34] And I've been sick for almost two years now.

[00:01:37] I've tried many different treatments,

[00:01:40] PRP treatment, and so on.

[00:01:42] After consulting with many doctors, including Turkish doctors,

[00:01:46] I finally realized that surgery was inevitable.

[00:01:50] So, I decided to look for a clinic that could perform a very high-quality and successful surgery,

[00:01:54] and where there was a very good human relationship.

[00:01:57] This was very important to me.

[00:02:03] I came across it (Turan Turan) by chance on the internet,

[00:02:06] patients were talking about the surgeries they had and what they felt.

[00:02:10] I also watched the comment of Dr. Bakhytgul Khaibrakhmanovna on the internet.

[00:02:15] She is a doctor who works and lives in Almaty.

[00:02:18] She recommended this (Turan Turann) clinic.

[00:02:20] She said a friend of hers had same surgery here, and she personally traveled here

[00:02:24] and was allowed to attend her friend's surgery and be by her side.

[00:02:27] This clinic specializes in such surgeries and orthopedic surgery.

[00:02:29] Through Bakhytgul Khaibrakhmanovna, I reached out to these people and to Mr. Eldar, who organized all this.

[00:02:36] I sent the images, and

[00:02:42] a remote diagnosis was made for my condition.

[00:02:45] That's how I learned about the wonderful clinic called Turan Turan, and I wanted to come here.

[00:02:51] We had a very comfortable journey, with almost no fatigue.

[00:02:56] They met us at Istanbul airport.

[00:02:59] and a car approached, a comfortable Mercedes minibus.

[00:03:02] We traveled from Istanbul to Bursa.

[00:03:05] They settled me in the clinic.

[00:03:07] We quickly went through all these procedures

[00:03:08] with examinations, tests, etc., and prepared for surgery.

[00:03:13] He (Dr. Kayhan Turan) gave the impression of a professional,

[00:03:16] It was enough for him to look at my feet, my walk, and my X-rays to understand the problem.

[00:03:25] As a result, it was decided that I needed surgery on both legs.

[00:03:27] The consultation with the doctor went great.

[00:03:32] The reason for my visit to Turkey

[00:03:34] was to get both my legs operated on at the same time, because for some reason they don't do such surgeries in Kazakhstan.

[00:03:38] In Kazakhstan, they do one leg

[00:03:40] and after waiting for a while, they do the other leg.

[00:03:48] Usually, I have a sedentary office job.

[00:03:52] Due to a sedentary lifestyle, you have to exercise and keep yourself in good condition somehow.

[00:03:54] Therefore, it is quite a restrictive condition.

[00:03:57] It also has a psychological effect.

[00:04:00] My plans are not so grand.

[00:04:03] I just want to recover and walk around the city with my family,

[00:04:05] holding my daughter's hand.

[00:04:10] This clinic performed both surgeries at the same time.

[00:04:12] My first surgery was on

[00:04:14] April 16th, and the second surgery was two days later, on April 19th.

[00:04:20] The surgeries were very successful.

[00:04:23] I wasn't in much pain because

[00:04:26] I was constantly being taken care of.

[00:04:28] The nurses were constantly monitoring me.

[00:04:31] I think on the second day they got me up and had me walking.

[00:04:34] On the second day after the first leg surgery,

[00:04:37] they had me walking up the stairs,

[00:04:40] half a floor.

[00:04:41] I started getting used to walking. After the second surgery,

[00:04:44] there was no pain.

[00:04:48] Immediately after the surgery,

[00:04:49] a physiotherapist came to my room

[00:04:51] and brought exercise devices to strengthen my muscles (CPM),

[00:04:56] to strengthen the capillaries and blood vessels in the legs (DVT),

[00:04:59] so that the blood circulation function of the vessels was improved.

[00:05:03] And after the person feels that the leg muscles are somewhat strengthened,

[00:05:08] they can move without crutches.

[00:05:12] Dr. Kayhan Bey Turan,

[00:05:14] I was very impressed by him,

[00:05:16] He is a very charismatic person with a lot of experience

[00:05:22] specifically in surgery.

[00:05:25] His charisma, his demeanor, his warmth, the kindness in his eyes, really

[00:05:28] helped me a lot.

[00:05:32] It's all thanks to him and his team.

[00:05:36] Before traveling to Turkey, to Bursa,

[00:05:39] I insisted several times that the doctor performing my surgery be Dr. Kayhan Bey Turan.

[00:05:45] So, I'm grateful to him for taking the time for me.

[00:05:49] He is a very busy person.

[00:05:52] As far as I know, his workday starts at 6:00 or 7:00 in the morning.

[00:05:56] He visits all his patients and doesn't overlook anyone.

[00:06:02] So, I'm happy that I decided to have the surgery.

[00:06:05] I'm also happy that it was very successful.

[00:06:06] That's it.

[00:06:09] Therefore, my advice is, don't be afraid of this surgery, rather

[00:06:10] go ahead and get this surgery done.

[00:06:14] I want to thank once again

[00:06:19] the Chief Doctor, the founder of this wonderful clinic, Dr. Kayhan Bey Turan.

[00:06:23] I want to thank all the nurses, all the staff,

[00:06:27] all the translators, coordinators,

[00:06:29] I especially want to mention our coordinator, translator, and friend,

[00:06:32] his name is Eldar,

[00:06:33] who constantly helped, consulted,

[00:06:37] translated, literally never left us alone for a moment.

[00:06:41] A big hug and thank you to everyone.
