Laureato presso la Facoltà di Medicina dell'Università di Ankara nel 1985, ha completato gli studi di specializzazione presso il Dipartimento di Neurochirurgia e Neurochirurgia dell'Università di Hacettepe nel 1995. Presso la stessa università, ha conseguito il dottorato nel 2005, è diventato professore associato nel 2006, professore associato nel 2007 e professore ordinario nel 2014.
