About Prof. Wei LI
Prof. Wei LI is an experienced orthopedic surgeon based in Beijing, China. Education and Training
Prof. Wei LI completed his medical degree at Xi'an Medical University in 1985. He then went on to complete his residency in orthopedic surgery at Beijing Jishuitan Hospital, where he gained valuable experience in treating complex orthopedic conditions. He is now professor at Peking University and retired from the Hospital after 40-year service.
Specialization
Prof. Wei Li specializes in the surgical management of a wide range of joint disorders, including arthroscopy, corrective osteotomy, and total hip and total knee arthroplasty, as well as complex revision procedures. Over the past three years, he has been among the first in China to perform high-flexion total knee arthroplasty (TKA), which significantly improves postoperative knee mobility compared with conventional procedures, allowing patients to squat and kneel in daily life.
He was also an early adopter in China of metatarsophalangeal joint replacement, and total ankle replacement surgery. Currently, he is advancing both conservative and surgical treatments for early-stage femoral head necrosis, such as core decompression and tantalum rod implantation, which have demonstrated favorable clinical outcomes.
