During my time as a volunteer I worked with many medical professionals and with many great patients that helped shape my love for medicine. 2004 Dean’s List I was on the Dean’s List at the University of Colorado at Denver for maintaining a GPA of over 3.5 2004 College Basketball I played for two colleges: Eastfield College in Mesquite, TX and University of St. Mary in Leavenworth, KS. Playing college basketball taught me a lot about the dedication that it takes to reach goals I had set at a young age. 2000-2002 Missionary Service- Milan, Italy I was a missionary for my church in the north-western parts of Italy for two years. While there I became fluent in the Italian language, developed a love for the Italian people, and gained a greater faith. Being a missionary helped me learn about commitment in my religion and in my life. 1998-2000 Eagle Scout As a Boy Scout I passed off requirements to earn merit badges, as I earned the merit badges I would advance in rank, I planned and carried out an eagle project and I eventually reached my goal of Eagle Scout when I was 14. Some examples of merit badges are: Citizenship in the Community, First Aid, Emergency Preparedness, and Riflery. In achieving my Eagle Scout award I was expected to live high standards of honesty and loyalty and was taught responsibility, discipline and the importance of working hard. 1998-2000 Community Service Boy Scout Master I was the Boy Scout master for 6-10 young men 11 years old. We had weekly scout meetings and went on campouts at least twice a year. I helped them make goals and achieve them. I assisted them as they advanced in rank through the Boy Scouts of America program. It was a great opportunity to watch these boys grow and find enjoyment in the scouting program and outdoors. 2011-2015 Youth Basketball Coach I volunteered as the youth basketball coach at the church I attended. We had weekly practices and games every Saturday for 6 weeks. It was a true joy to be able to incorporate my love for basketball with the enjoy-ment of watching the young men excel in the sport. We had a great time and made many great memories. 2011-2013 Physical Exams for the Underserved I volunteered as the youth basketball coach at the church I attended. I volunteered about 10-15 hours per week to work with youth (primarily young men) ranging from 12-18 years old.
