Zero Waiting Times for Relief
Women suffering from debilitating conditions like endometriosis or severe fibroids often face multi-year waiting lists in public health systems like the NHS. Famagusta offers immediate, priority access to complex surgical interventions, allowing patients to reclaim their quality of life without delay.
A Calming, Private Healing Environment

Exceptional Cost Efficiency
Despite offering world-class surgical facilities, the cost of living and medical overhead in Cyprus remains highly competitive. Patients traveling to Famagusta can save up to 70% on complex gynecological surgeries compared to private clinics in the United States or the United Kingdom.

Famagusta vs. Alternative Cypriot Cities for Gynecology Care
Cyprus is a leading hub for European medical tourism, but each region offers a different experience. Here is how Famagusta compares to other major cities for your women's health journey.
Famagusta
Eastern Coast Serenity
The ultimate choice for patients prioritizing privacy and relaxation. Famagusta pairs highly specialized gynecological facilities with a tranquil environment, allowing women to recover from sensitive procedures away from heavy tourist or metropolitan traffic.
Nicosia
Inland Capital
As the capital city, Nicosia hosts the largest multi-disciplinary hospitals. It is ideal for highly complex oncology cases requiring vast medical teams, but it lacks the soothing, resort-like atmosphere of the coastal cities for post-operative rest.
Limassol
Southern Coast
Limassol offers premium, luxury healthcare with a vibrant expat community. While the medical standards are exceptionally high, the energetic city life and premium pricing may not appeal to patients seeking a quiet, budget-conscious recovery.
Paphos
Southwest Coast
A highly popular destination for general medical tourism and cosmetic procedures. However, for specialized minimally invasive gynecological surgeries, patients often find more dedicated women's healthcare resources in the eastern and central regions.
Comprehensive Gynecology Care Procedures in Famagusta
Cypriot specialists excel in utilizing tissue-sparing, minimally invasive techniques. Explore the advanced procedures available to restore your reproductive health and overall comfort.
Laparoscopic Hysterectomy
$5,500 – $7,500A highly advanced surgical removal of the uterus performed through tiny abdominal incisions using a camera and specialized instruments. This approach minimizes scarring, drastically reduces blood loss, and ensures a much faster return to daily activities compared to open surgery.
Save $9,500+ vs. US/UK prices
Endometriosis Excision Surgery
$4,000 – $6,000Unlike ablation which merely burns the surface, specialist excision physically cuts out deep-infiltrating endometriosis from pelvic organs. This is the gold standard for reducing chronic pelvic pain and preserving fertility, performed by expert surgeons in Famagusta.
Save $8,000+ vs. US/UK prices
Myomectomy (Fibroid Removal)
$3,800 – $5,500For women experiencing heavy bleeding or pain due to uterine fibroids who wish to keep their uterus. Depending on the size and location, surgeons in Cyprus perform this hysteroscopically or laparoscopically, focusing strongly on fertility preservation.
Save $6,200+ vs. US/UK prices
Pelvic Floor Organ Prolapse Repair
$3,500 – $5,000A restorative procedure addressing the descent of pelvic organs (bladder, uterus, or rectum) into the vaginal canal. Utilizing advanced surgical mesh or the patient’s own native tissue, this care restores normal anatomy and resolves severe urinary incontinence.
Save $5,500+ vs. US/UK prices
How to Choose a Gynecology Care Clinic in Famagusta?
Your health and safety are paramount. Use this practical 5-step guide to confidently select the right medical facility and specialist for your gynecological needs in Cyprus.
Verify Board Certifications
Ensure your chosen specialist holds valid European or international board certifications in Obstetrics and Gynecology. Look for additional fellowship training specifically in minimally invasive gynecologic surgery (MIGS).
Inquire About Surgical Volumes
Surgeons who routinely perform specific procedures (like deep excision of endometriosis) have better outcomes. Ask the clinic how many times the doctor has performed your specific procedure in the last year.
Assess the Facility Standards
Confirm that the clinic or hospital features an ICU (Intensive Care Unit) on-site. Even for routine laparoscopies, a fully equipped modern facility ensures maximum safety in the rare event of a surgical complication.
Review Communication Protocols
Effective communication is vital. Ensure the clinic has fluent English-speaking medical staff and that you are granted a direct virtual consultation with the lead surgeon before committing to travel.
Use an Accredited Facilitator
Do not navigate foreign medical systems alone. Utilize PlacidWay to access pre-vetted clinics in Famagusta, ensuring you receive transparent pricing and are connected only with facilities passing rigorous international safety audits.
Your Gynecology Care Timeline in Famagusta
Knowing what to expect reduces pre-operative anxiety. Here is a step-by-step timeline of how your medical journey in Cyprus will unfold.
Step 1: Initial Assessment & File Review
Submit your pelvic ultrasounds, MRI scans, and medical history. The gynecological team in Famagusta will review your file, confirm your candidacy for surgery, and provide a customized surgical plan and transparent price quote.
Step 2: Arrival & Pre-Operative Consultation
Fly into Cyprus (typically Larnaca airport) and travel to Famagusta. You will meet your surgeon in person, undergo necessary pre-operative blood tests, final imaging, and an anesthesiology clearance check.
Step 3: The Surgical Procedure
Admitted to your private hospital room, your minimally invasive procedure (such as a myomectomy or hysterectomy) is performed under general anesthesia. Modern laparoscopic techniques ensure maximum precision and minimal trauma to surrounding tissues.
Step 4: Hospital Stay and Coastal Recovery
Depending on the complexity, you will spend 1 to 3 nights in the hospital under 24/7 care. Upon discharge, you will move to a local hotel in Famagusta to rest for several days, enjoying the peaceful environment while your body heals.
Step 5: Final Checkup and Return Home
Before you are cleared to fly, your surgeon will conduct a final examination to check incisions and confirm stable healing. You will return home with detailed post-operative instructions and your medical records.

What Women Say About Their Care in Famagusta
Read firsthand accounts from women who chose clinics in Famagusta to address complex gynecological issues safely and comfortably.
"I had been on a waiting list in the UK for endometriosis surgery for almost two years. The daily pain was ruining my life. I finally looked into Famagusta and was booked for excision surgery within a month. The hospital was immaculate, the surgeon was brilliant, and recovering by the Mediterranean sea made a traumatic experience feel incredibly healing."
"My doctors back home told me a full open hysterectomy was my only option for my fibroids, which would have meant weeks off work. The specialists in Famagusta performed a laparoscopic myomectomy instead, saving my uterus and halving my recovery time. The level of private, respectful care I received there was beyond anything I have experienced."

Waste of time, money and a summer! 2 females from the UK that won’t be silenced despite a legal threat! We did FOUR egg collections with this hospital. We trusted them with our bodies, our fertility, our money. Things started well, we really liked our Co-ordinator, the communication was excellent. The vibe was good. First round, wife did OK and got 3 PGT embryos (all of which later failed at transfer so I would question the quality and PGT reliability. My own round was a disaster! I had over 10 follicles growing nicely, but the clinic always make sure they under measure. They disregard a lot of follicles, they try to prepare you for poor numbers. On the scans it’s painful to watch them ignore follicles and only measure the top few each side. I got just 3 eggs. Non of which made it to a PGT embryo. I was shocked and devastated especially as both of my UK rounds yielded 8 and 9 eggs. It made no sense to me. They claimed I had ‘empty follicles’ which I refuse to believe. Empty follicles is often a clinical issue, or bad management. Ie - insufficient trigger (they had us on 1 trigger jab only when our next clinic had us us THREE) meaning eggs were probably still attached to the follicle, or they took us in for the operation too early. They took me in almost 2 hours earlier than the recommended 36 exact hours after trigger. I firmly believe my eggs were there, but stuck. They didn’t bother saving the round like other clinics would. Lazy. They then took hours to tell me my egg results, strange as my wife was told within 5 minutes. There was a lot of silence and avoiding us after my collection. It felt sketchy, like they had to have an internal meeting to plan what they’re saying to us. The doctor who did the operation didn’t bother to come and see us for a de-brief. Especially after such a poor result, we wanted answers and didn’t get them. They expect all communication to be through the Co-ordinations, even bad news and I think this is unacceptable. A doctor performing a procedure should come and see you afterward! Basic care. We then stupidly decided to give the clinic another chance as my wife desperately wanted a viable embryo or two. We tried to put the poor collection down to an ‘unlucky round’ as they said. However, another rubbish round. I got just 3 mature eggs once again. My wife has an even worse round too, just 3 embryos and we didn’t bother testing them. Other than 2 ‘good quality’ embryos, the rest of the embryos were poor grades. We did two transfers with the clinic, one with me and one with my wife of 3 embryos each and they failed. It’s no suprise they failed due to the ridiculously short FET protocol. Neither of us felt ready. They tested our progesterone AFTER transfers and my wife’s progesterone was 10, most clinics won’t transfer an embryo under 20 progesterone never mind 10! Of course it failed. I truly think the worst clinic in the world would have got one of us pregnant with 3 embryos each time! The chances of a pregnancy were so high. My wife got pregnant with our son first time too so we know she doesn’t have any issues. There are so many other red flags, some mentioned on previous reviews from others but I agree with them all. The facility is attached to another hospital, when blood tests are done you’re in an open room with people walking in and out and an audience, no privacy. Our friends who came to this clinic were made to share a room with someone else as they were that busy. No-one we are speaking to after using this clinic is pregnant after numerous transfers with this clinic and I honestly will be left wondering what on earth are they actually doing. Are they getting more eggs and telling us less? Why are the embryo grades so poor for everyone we speak to!? They mentioned a concern about lab temperatures to our friends that had terrible embryo results but then later retracted it and also threatened legals with them. To end our personal story, we moved to British IVF hospital and they got me 22 eggs! Yes, you read that right. TWENTY TWO! And of course we got pregnant first time with this amazing clinic.. We are ‘bossmammies’ on the main platform and you can check out our entire journey there just incase this place tries to discredit my review
