Seoul Attraction - The Next Medical Travel Hub
Touted as one of the nation’s growth engines in the next five years, Korea’s medical tourism industry is expected to attract 100,000 medical tourists by 2012 according to The Ministry of Health, Welfare and Family Affairs and President Lee Myung-bak.
Much have been done and put in place for the development of the medical travel industry in Korea. From the formation of the Council for Korean Medicine Overseas Promotion (CKMP) in March 2007, to the ease of visa application into Korea, the South Korean government has put in great efforts to promote Korea’s medical travel industry. Latest development includes a bill allowing advertisements on medical services by local medical institutions targeting foreign patients.
With these efforts in place and combined with Korea’s world-class healthcare infrastructure, well-skilled doctors and surgeons, diversity of its healthcare treatment from Oriental to alternative medicine and Korea’s dynamic culture, Korea is set to be the next medical travel hub.
