Cataract Surgery Bangkok Thailand

Cataract Surgery at Vejthani Hospital in Bangkok Thailand

Cataracts become more prominent as we age and will continue to affect the younger generation but most especially the elderly.

A cataract is a type of eye disease in which the clear lens of the eye becomes opaque or cloudy. During cataract formation, the clouding of this lens distorts one’s vision, causing blurring of the images you see. Most of the time, it can affect both eyes, but it is not unusual for a cataract in another eye to progress rapidly.

Symptoms of a cataract include:

  • difficulty reading
  • blurry vision
  • diplopia (double vision)
  • glare (sensitivity to light)
    • caused by bright sunlight or incoming headlights when driving at night.

Cataracts can be diagnosed when the ophthalmologist (eye doctor) examines both eyes with specific viewing devices. The decision to undergo cataract surgery is primarily based on the difficulty you are experiencing when performing your activities of daily living. Treatment for cataracts involves surgical removal of the cataract and replacing with artificial lens implantation which takes 20-30 minutes.

Cataract surgery is an effective and safe approach to restore lost vision without serious complications. There are many eye clinics around the world that specialize in cataract surgeries, including Vejthani Hospital in Bangkok, Thailand.
