In 1899, men and women resolved to enable Genevan physicians and surgeons to treat and operate themselves on their patients near the city centre resulting in the creation, at Champel, of the Clinique Générale. The Clinique Beaulieu, was in turn established during the first world war.

When it opened, it was the most modern clinic in Switzerland. These two Genevan institutions united their destinies seventy years later and created in the summer of 1983 the Clinique Générale-Beaulieu, in a residential area near the city centre, with a superb view of the Salève and the Voirons.
