The Beach and Lake Resort own boat solely accesses this tranquil oasis. Qualified doctors, stunning scenery, peaceful surroundings, attentive service and excellent food ensure enhanced benefits to your treatment programme.

The Beach & Lake is a privately owned Ayurvedic Resort, 8 kms south of Trivandrum International Airport. Offering Therapeutic and Rejuvenating Ayurvedic programmes, the resort is nestled between the Arabian Sea and the Parvathi Puthanar rivers, situated on an island.

On one side are the backwaters; bordered by a forest of coconut palms, a natural habitat for 31 odd species of migratory birds. On the other side, a secluded expanse of beach stretches 4 kms north to the lively beach of Kovalam.

Ayurvedic Cuisine
We are particularly proud of our restaurant, which, if you are not prescribed an Ayurvedic diet, offers a multi-cuisine menu of high standard. There are occasional cultural evenings with traditional Indian Dance and Music Programmes.

Best Known Ayurvedic Doctor
Dr V. Franklin is one of the best known Ayurvedic doctors in Kerala and is a specialist in Panchakarma treatment. He comes from a traditional Ayurvedic background and a family that can trace their tradition back 400 years. In 1999 he was named: 'Tourism Man of the Year' for so successfully combining tourism with Ayurveda. All treatments at the Beach & Lake Ayurvedic Resort are carried out under his direct guidance and supervision.

The Beach & Lake Ayurvedic Resort is open through the year. October to April is the main tourist season. Optimum benefit can be achieved by taking treatments during the rainy season of June and July.

The concept of ayurvedic resort dawned on us in the late nineties and evolved into what it is, at present. In the process of edifying came the thought of combining ayurveda with yoga for its purity in its art, thus the formation of our yoga retreat under the guidance of a renowned guru, a member of the yoga world congress. Being ideally situated near the famous beach Kovalam, our beach resort is most sort for its sereneness and beauty surrounding it.

Ayurveda
Ayurveda is a health science, the oldest and most complete healing system known today. The word Ayurveda, derived from 2 sanskrit terms, literally means: the knowledge of life. At the heart of Ayurveda lies the concept of 3 ‘doshas’: Kapha, Pitha and Vatha. These doshas are present in everyone and the predominance of one over another determines ones body type and constitution. Balancing the three harmoniously will promote a healthy body and mind.

India’s Sages prescribed Ayurveda several millennia ago and it is now gaining in popularity throughout the West, as its systems are more relevant than ever in treating the diseases of the modern age. This holistic treatment involves various types of massage and oil applications, inhalations, diet, and natural medicines as required. Treatment plans are as individual as people.

Dr V. Franklin
Dr V. Franklin is one of the best known Ayurvedic doctors in Kerala and is a specialist in Panchakarma treatment. He comes from a traditional Ayurvedic background and a family that can trace their tradition back 400 years.

Formerly the District Medical Officer for the Kerala Government, Dr V.Franklin has traveled the world giving seminars and consultations.

He runs the Panchakarma and Research Institute in Chowra which he established in 1997, its aim to provide a first class service to both domestic and overseas tourists.

Kovalam is the rejuvenating touch of waves at the foot of a tired traveler.

Just 4 kilometres north of The Beach & Lake Ayurvedic Resort, Kovalam is a popular tourist resort with shops, restaurants and a full range of tourist facilities. The season is October - April, when the average temperature is around 32 degrees. Kovalam is very used to Western travelers and has the reputation of being the only place in India where locals do not consider swimming in the sea eccentric!

One of the world's greatest beaches now a magnificent resort of the sun, surf and sea. A beach paradise: the boundless blue of the Arabian Sea and the unwinding miles of the fine sanded beaches washed by a surf which roars and hisses at the feet of the stalwart palms.

Ayurveda Panchakarma In Kerala
We can arrange day trips for you around Trivandrum or help with tour planning. Taxis are always available to take you on local sight seeing trips. The most popular tour is the backwaters trip.

From the resort, step into a traditional wooden boat for a three hour backwater trip around the surrounding area. Many species of migratory birds can be seen in their natural habitat. See villagers along the riverbank, a timeless view of age-old daily village life.

One can also see the conventional coir industry, the fishermen hauling the fish and the one and only famous Parasurama Temple. (It was due to Swami Parasurama that Kerala came in to existence).
