UKE employees are dedicated to doing an excellent job. Patients with seldom and complex diseases can visit our highly specialised outpatient clinics. There they can join clinical trials. Results of clinical trials are shared on a national and international basis. So it is easier, even for seldom diseases, to transfer results directly into the everyday work in the clinical departments. Precious experiences in the work with patients can be discussed, documented and analysed worldwide. Students of the medical faculty can join the clinical everyday life very early, for instance in bedside-teaching courses. This way, they get excellent practical experience. Specializations of young doctors, for instance in order to become a surgeon, are also performed at the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf.

Hamburg
What are the first things that come to mind when you think of Hamburg? Probably the city's stunning location on the Elbe and Alster Rivers, the colorful activity in the St. Pauli entertainment district, unforgettable musicals, a night at the theater, Michaelis Church (colloquially "der Michel") or the impressive harbor.

Hamburg, 1,200 years old, is loved both for its contemporary scene as well as for its cultural offerings. In between traditional trading houses and renowned theaters, the latest trends are always cropping up.

Hamburg lies open to many streams of influence. With city-state traditions reaching back for centuries, it has always played a special political and cultural role. Today, as a key commercial hub, an international harbor and a media and cultural center, the metropolis on the Elbe River with its 1.6 million inhabitants is once again pursuing ancient traditions with typically Hanseatic aplomb. This comes as no surprise: Germany's second largest city offers a high quality of life and international flair.

The International Office offers a comprehensive service for VIP patients that leaves nothing to be desired.

You name it – we make it possible!

Managing Mental Disorders

There are no genetic tests, no brain scans, blood tests, chemical imbalance tests or X-rays that can scientifically/medically prove any mental disorder is a medical condition. That said, we are seeing that alternative treatments are being strongly considered.
